Policies

Ground rules for booking, deposits, healing, and everything in between.

Every appointment runs on a few simple ground rules. These policies exist so you know exactly what to expect. What’s expected from you, what’s expected from me, and what happens if something goes sideways.

Read through before you book. By submitting an inquiry or signing consent, you’re agreeing to everything below.

01

Booking & appointments

How booking works

Every tattoo appointment starts with the inquiry form. Include:

  • Concept or idea
  • Placement on the body
  • Approximate size
  • Style references or inspiration photos
  • Preferred scheduling availability
  • Budget range

Submitting an inquiry doesn’t guarantee an appointment. I review projects based on my availability, project size, placement, style fit, and scheduling.

Some projects need a consultation before we book — usually cover-ups, complex custom work, or anything with unusual design requirements.

02

Deposits

Non-refundable

A non-refundable deposit holds every appointment.

  • It goes toward the final tattoo price
  • It secures your reserved appointment time
  • It covers scheduling, prep, and design time

The appointment isn’t officially confirmed until the deposit lands. Standard appointments start at a $100 minimum deposit. Larger or more complex projects run higher.

03

Rescheduling & cancellations

48-hour notice

Give me at least 48 hours notice for any reschedule. A deposit may be transferable once, with notice and my approval.

Last-minute cancellations, repeated reschedules, or no-shows can lead to

  • Forfeiting your deposit
  • Higher deposit required for future bookings
  • Refusal of future appointments
My side
I may reschedule for illness, emergencies, unsafe weather or travel conditions, studio issues, or anything else that comes up. I’ll give you as much notice as I can.
04

Late arrivals

Arrive on time

Show up on time. If you’re significantly late, the appointment may get shortened, rescheduled, or the deposit forfeited — depending on my schedule that day.

05

Age & identification

18+ with valid photo ID

You need to be 18 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID before any tattoo work happens, unless otherwise permitted under Minnesota law and studio policy.

06

Health & safety

Tell me what I need to know

Before we tattoo, you’re responsible for disclosing:

  • Medical conditions
  • Allergies
  • Pregnancy or nursing status
  • Medications
  • Skin sensitivities
  • Healing concerns

I may refuse or postpone service if you

  • Appear intoxicated or impaired
  • Are visibly ill
  • Have unsafe or compromised skin in the area
  • Aren't able to safely consent
  • Are aggressive, threatening, or unsafe

Jenocyde Ink follows Minnesota body art sanitation and health regulations inside licensed studio environments.

07

Appointment preparation

Show up ready

Eat, hydrate, sleep, shower, wear comfortable clothes. Skip alcohol and recreational drugs for at least 24 hours before. Don’t show up sunburned, sick, or running on fumes.

Poor prep affects skin quality, bleeding, healing, and how comfortable you are during the session.

08

Numbing cream

Allowed, with caveats

Numbing cream is fine for most appointments unless we’ve talked about something different. If you’re going to use it:

  • Apply about 1 hour before the appointment
  • Apply a thick layer to intact skin
  • Cover with plastic wrap before you arrive
  • Mild heat beforehand can help absorption
Tell me
Let me know beforehand if you’ve used any numbing product. It changes how I prep the area.

Results vary person to person. Some products affect swelling, skin texture, stencil adhesion, or how consistently the skin takes ink. I can’t guarantee the effectiveness or duration of any numbing product. If the skin becomes too irritated, swollen, or damaged to tattoo safely, the appointment may need to be adjusted or rescheduled.

09

Artwork & design

Custom work

Jenocyde Ink specializes in custom work designed for each client. I may make minor artistic adjustments when something needs them for readability, longevity, placement flow, or overall composition.

I’ll decline

  • Direct copies of copyrighted tattoos
  • Stolen artwork
  • Offensive or hateful content
  • Projects outside the artistic direction of the brand
Your call, your responsibility
Final approval of artwork, spelling, dates, placement, color, sizing, and stencil positioning is yours before tattooing begins. Once I’ve started, errors you approved are on you.

Ownership & rights

Custom artwork and tattoo designs created by Jenocyde Ink stay the artist’s intellectual property unless we agree otherwise in writing. Designs are made for one client and one tattoo.

Without written permission, you can’t

  • Copy, reproduce, or distribute the design
  • Claim it as your own
  • Have it tattooed by another artist
  • Alter, repost, or pass it off as your work

Paying a deposit reserves the appointment and covers design time. It doesn’t transfer ownership of the artwork itself.

Unreleased designs (anything that didn’t end up tattooed) stay with Jenocyde Ink. I may reuse, modify, decline, or repurpose them for other clients or projects.

10

Pricing & payments

How pricing works

Pricing depends on size, placement, detail, session length, complexity, and design needs.

  • Quotes and estimates aren't guaranteed final totals
  • Adjustments requested during the appointment can change the total
  • Remaining balance is due the day of service
  • You agree not to dispute, reverse, or chargeback completed work
11

Touch-ups

Within 90 days, $25 minimum

Touch-up requests should typically come within 90 daysof the original appointment unless we’ve discussed something different.

Touch-ups carry a $25 minimum service fee to cover setup, supplies, scheduling, and prep. Additional charges may apply depending on placement, healing results, time required, design changes, or how the skin retained the ink.

Complimentary touch-ups don’t cover

  • Improper aftercare
  • Picking or scratching
  • Excessive sun exposure
  • Skin trauma
  • Weight fluctuation
  • Pregnancy or stretching
  • High-motion areas — hands, fingers, feet, fine-line work

Complimentary touch-ups are never guaranteed. I evaluate them case-by-case.

12

Aftercare & healing

Aftercare is on you

You’ll leave with detailed aftercare instructions. Healing varies depending on skin type, placement, lifestyle, immune response, and how consistently you follow the instructions.

I’m not responsible for healing complications caused by

  • Not following aftercare instructions
  • Excessive sun exposure
  • Picking or scratching
  • Soaking the tattoo
  • Poor hygiene
If something's wrong
If signs of infection or an allergic reaction appear, get medical attention immediately.

Photo & social media consent

Your call

Photo and video consent is set during the digital consent form. Four options:

  • Full consent

Photos and videos may be used for portfolio, marketing, website, advertising, and social media.

  • Tattoo-only

Photos of the tattoo only, no identifying facial features.

  • Anonymous

May be posted as long as your identity stays anonymous.

  • No photos

    No photos or online posting.

14

Respectful environment

Studio standards

The studio is a respectful, professional, safe space for clients and artists.

Aggressive, abusive, discriminatory, threatening, inappropriate, or unsafe behavior gets you turned away — and may end services mid-session.

15

Liability

Known risks

Tattooing is a permanent body modification and carries real risks:

  • Infection
  • Allergic reactions
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Scarring
  • Ink rejection
  • Fading
  • Healing inconsistencies

By booking with Jenocyde Ink, you acknowledge these risks and agree to complete all required consent forms before tattoo services begin.
